The Butterfly Foundation - Supporting Australians with Eating Disorders

Fashion retailer Sportsgirl has supported us since 2007 and we are thrilled with the awareness they have raised about us, eating disorders and positive body image. Over $250,000 has been raised to support our Direct Relief Initiative and to enable us to help other organisations. The Eating Disorders Foundation of NSW has been able to establish a Rural Support Program, Royal Children's Hospital Eating Disorders Clinic has received $80,000 for a clinical nurse, Womens Healthworks in WA has run a five month Body Esteem program for eating disorder sufferers and we are helping Westmead Hospital in NSW to establish a special Butterfly Wing for families.

We thank Sportsgirl for their ongoing support of eating disorder sufferers and particularly wish to acknowledge the Sportsgirl shop staff for nominating eating disorders and negative body image as an issue they most want to address.

The Dove Self Esteem fund is a major supporter of The Butterfly Foundation providing us with funds to deliver the BodyThink Program.

The Dove Self Esteem fund is an agent of change assisting young people to improve their self worth, body confidence and media literacy. Via the support of Dove, The Butterfly Foundation has delivered BodyThink trainings to nearly 500 education and community professionals. The BodyThink program itself has now reached over 12,000 young people!
