Eating Disorders Foundation of VIC
The Eating Disorders Foundation of Victoria is a non-profit organisation which aims to support those affected by eating disorders and to better inform the community about disordered eating. Originally the Anorexia and Bulimia Nervosa Fellowship and then the Anorexia and Bulimia Nervosa Foundation of Victoria, the Foundation was established in the early 1980s by health professionals who recognised the need for information and support related to eating disorders. The EDFV helpline operates from Monday to Friday from 9.30am to 5pm.

Recovery Is Possible For Everyone (RIPE)
A group for people experiencing one or more of the following:

  • If you regularly binge eat, feel out of control, guilty or ashamed about bingeing; and
  • If you use measures such as vomiting, fasting, diet pills, laxatives or excessive exercise to compensate for the food you eat after binges.

Not suitable for those people with a current diagnosis of anorexia nervosa.

How many participants: 6-8
Age range: All ages over 18
Length of the program: 1.5 - 2 hours pw for 16 weeks (Weekly attendance expected)
Cost: $55-$65 per session (including GST)
Location: Abbotsford Convent (Melways Ref: 44 G5)
Dates: Please contact us for group dates as they start regularly
Times: Groups are offered in the evening
Treatment approach: A structured treatment program facilitated by a counsellor and a dietitian
Type of therapeutic approach: ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy), CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy), Mindfulness skills, Nutritional Counselling, Mindful Eating and Appetite awareness training.
